Grooming

s DSC_0115_optThe coat of the breed is long, dense and fluffy. The single layer coat (no undercoat) falls in loose open ringlets and flocks all over the body and shorter on the face. 青 妖精The hair’stexture is woolly, as opposed to silky. The coat is odorless.

The Bolognese often appears on lists of dogs that allegedly do not shed. It is true that these dogs do not seasonally moult or lose large amounts of fur as many other breeds do. However, their hair is very little sheds sheds as similar to human hair growth cycles. We comb regulary, with a wide metallic toothcomb, to remove dead hair to maintain a tangle free coat and to keep the beautiful healthy coat.  Neglected coats become matted, which is painful and can lead to serious skin infections. Grooming must also include regular eye cleaning with soaked warm cotton, teeth cleaning, and a monthly professional grooming session is recommended.

s DSCN0738_optPuppies may have champagne colors on them, but as they become adults, the color will fade to white. Rarely the color remains in adults, but as an adult, the overall appearance is always of a white dog.
